Licensure Requirements

A license from the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board is required for all programs offered.  Licenses from other states/countries are not valid.

Initial Licensure

Upon completing the graduation requirements and paying all monies owed to the school, a graduate will receive a certification of hours to apply for the state board test.

To obtain a license, the graduate must pass a theory and practical test each with at least 75%.  There is a separate theory test for students who have completed an advanced program, which must be passed with at least 75%.

All tests are administered in Grove City, Ohio.

All tests are administered in English only.

Graduates are responsible for applying for and travel to all tests.

Anyone failing to pass a portion of the test may reschedule to retake the failed portion.
